Always Look for the ADA Seal of Acceptance When Shopping for Oral Care Products

Posted .

The quality of the oral care products you buy is a critical part of maintaining good oral health through the practice of your daily oral hygiene routine. Poor oral hygiene from using low quality of cosmetic grade oral products, can lead to a host of problems like gum disease and tooth decay.

Marketing messages are awash in exorbitant claims about the ability of certain oral care products to meet a person or family’s needs. To help consumers get a clear understanding between truly effective oral care products and those meant only for cosmetic use, the American Dental Association started their Seal of Acceptance program.

The Seal of Acceptance program started in 1931, and in the years since it has become the industry standard for separating quality oral care products from ineffective ones.

Participation in the program is completely voluntary. When an oral care product manufacturer is about to launch a new product, they can contact the ADA to submit it to a rigorous battery of tests and research to determine its safety and effectiveness.
