Looking Forward to Root Canal Treatment

Posted .

If you’ve never had a root canal service done before and have one coming up, don’t worry: the process is pretty standard. Here are some things you can expect the doctor and team at our office to do when you have a root canal treatment performed.

While performing the root canal treatment, the dentist will extract the tooth’s nerve from inside the tooth and the root after forming an opening at the top of the tooth. The inside of the tooth will be cleaned and perhaps treated with a germ-killing medicine. To ensure the tooth does not become infected again down the road, the dentist will fill the root canals with a rubber-like substance and place an impermanent filling on the tooth. The temporary filling will shield the tooth until a permanent filling or crown can be placed, typically at a later date.
